Job description

Serve as primary audio console operator for music performances and events at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, a 2,750-person venue. Ensure world-class technical execution and delivery of quality experiences for visiting artists, production teams, clients and guests. Will support the 350-person music club and event space, 3TEN, as needed. Reports to Senior Manager of Production.
  • Plan, set up, and operate audio equipment and systems for live and taped productions, recordings, and other audio needs.
  • Interface with producers, clients, and talent as to their needs, making recommendations as appropriate to create the desired sound.
  • Fulfill audio support needs for musicians, in-house audience, and audio distribution, including radio, television, and other internet-based listeners.
  • Select alternate equipment and system routing to work around failures occurring during live productions.
  • Maintain operational understanding of current audio/visual/lighting/backline technologies.
  • Maintain awareness of music structures and arrangements, including current technologies.
  • Recommend equipment and system changes and modifications to venue and department leadership.
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of equipment. Assist production-technical staff in preventative maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Remix recorded tracks as needed.
  • Interface with technical services, IT staff and other departments concerning technical systems.
  • Ensure that all equipment is used safely, in accordance with proper industry standards, from the load-in through the load-out.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, etc., ensuring that all codes, laws, regulations, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
  • 10+ years experience as audio engineer for a national touring act, production vendor/supplier, or performance venue required
  • Hands-on experience with equipment repair procedures and maintenance required
  • Experience operating Midas PRO2 and DiGiCo Quantum 338 or similar audio console required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of professional audio systems and equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of music, acoustics and electronics
  • Ability to interface with management and clients
This position requires a pre-employment drug screening (4-panel: phencyclidine, cocaine,
amphetamines, and opiates).
