Position Overview:
We seek a dynamic and compassionate Assistant Activities Coordinator to join our team. The Assistant Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Activities Director to develop, organize, and implement a wide range of therapeutic and recreational activities tailored to our memory care residents' specific needs and interests.
Work schedule: Weekend 9:30 AM to 4 PM
Responsibilities:
Activity Planning and Implementation:
โ€ข Assist in planning and executing various activities, including music therapy, art therapy, sensory stimulation activities, and physical exercises.
โ€ข Collaborate with the Activities Director to develop activity schedules that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
โ€ข Lead group activities and one-on-one interactions with residents, providing encouragement, guidance, and support as needed.
Resident Engagement:
โ€ข Foster meaningful relationships with residents, getting to know their preferences, interests, and individual needs.
โ€ข Encourage resident participation in activities, adapting activities to accommodate varying cognitive and physical abilities.
โ€ข Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere during activities, ensuring residents feel valued, respected, and included.
Documentation and Evaluation:
โ€ข Assist in maintaining accurate records of resident participation in activities, documenting observations and outcomes.
โ€ข Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make adjustments as needed to better meet the needs of residents.
โ€ข Contribute to reports and assessments related to resident engagement and well-being.
Team Collaboration:
โ€ข Work collaboratively with other members of the care team, including caregivers, nurses, and therapists, to ensure holistic and person-centered care for residents.
โ€ข Communicate effectively with team members to share insights, coordinate schedules, and address resident concerns or changes in behavior.
Qualifications:
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, gerontology, psychology, or related field preferred.
โ€ข Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease preferred.
โ€ข Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
โ€ข Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine passion for improving the quality of life for individuals living with memory impairment.
โ€ข Ability to creatively adapt activities to meet the cognitive and physical abilities of residents.
โ€ข Organizational skills and attention to detail for planning and documenting activities.
โ€ข Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Salary: $20-$21 per hour
