Job description

Overview:

The Purchasing Coordinator supports the procurement function within a manufacturing environment by coordinating the purchase of raw materials, components, supplies, and services. This role ensures timely ordering, accurate documentation, and effective communication with vendors and internal departments to maintain uninterrupted production operations


Responsibilities:

  • Create, review, and process purchase orders for materials, supplies, and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production, planning, and warehouse teams to ensure adequate stock.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes, confirm pricing, delivery schedules, and order status.
  • Track and expedite orders to meet production deadlines.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, or deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and system data.
  • Assist with vendor setup, performance tracking, and basic supplier evaluations.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable to resolve invoice and payment issues.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and sourcing projects as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activity, open orders, and supplier performance.
  • Assist with audits, inventory counts, and continuous improvement efforts.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of purchasing, procurement, or administrative experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
