Job description

Snelling is currently recruiting for a Purchasing Coordinator for a well-established industrial company in the Nashville area. This is an excellent direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented purchasing professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with suppliers, sales teams, and operations to ensure materials are purchased competitively and delivered on time. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing, industrial, or steel distribution environment.

Responsibilities of Purchasing Coordinator:
  • Source and purchase steel products and other materials to support customer and operational needs.
  • Solicit competitive pricing and negotiate with mills and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying new sourcing opportunities.
  • Create, maintain, and track purchase orders through the ERP system.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and update delivery schedules as needed.
  • Coordinate inventory transfers between branch locations.
  • Schedule inbound deliveries and communicate receiving schedules with warehouse operations.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, damaged materials, and quality concerns with suppliers.
  • Review inventory reports to identify purchasing needs and replenishment opportunities.
  • Generate purchasing and inventory reports for internal teams.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with sales, warehouse, operations, and accounting teams to ensure accurate inventory and material costs.

Qualifications Required of Purchasing Coordinator:
