Job description

Stanford Graduate School of Business
Stanford's Graduate School of Business (GSB) has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, pushing the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offering a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact like no other. We invite you to be part of our mission of developing innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change lives, change organizations, and change the world.
The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES) at the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks three CES Case Writing Fellows to work with entrepreneurial faculty to develop new cases for graduate-level entrepreneurial courses. The Case Fellows partner with Stanford faculty to develop case studies that are used in the GSB's world-class entrepreneurial MBA courses. The case development process includes: researching and interviewing leaders of startup and high growth companies, partnering with faculty to develop cases about the company, and authoring and refining the cases and relevant study questions. Case Fellows also grade some of the graduate level business school courses and participate in processes to broaden the types of leaders who come into the classroom as potential case protagonists.
Case Fellows deepen their own learning about entrepreneurship and leadership while developing critical learning tools for the graduate business curriculum. They have the opportunity to work with faculty and build knowledge about how curriculum is created to meet teaching objectives. They have the opportunity to learn from C-level leaders in startup and growing companies.
This role is hybrid with the expectation of working a minimum of 3 days/week at the Stanford campus. The Fellowship is a 13-month fixed term assignment from September 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027.
Your primary responsibilities include*:
  • Research, draft, and write case studies and related study questions, in partnership with faculty, to be used as curriculum in the business school's entrepreneurial courses.
  • Drive the case writing process, ensure cases are completed on time at high quality and that the case writing timeline is very effectively managed and well communicated to faculty and case protagonists.
  • Serve as a representative of Stanford in interviews with case protagonists, typically C-level leaders in startup and growing companies.
  • Provide grading for graduate level entrepreneurial courses, including reading and grading papers, and occasionally providing feedback on in-class participation.
  • Contribute to the diversity of leaders who are guests in GSB classrooms by helping to identify leaders from diverse backgrounds who lead interesting companies about which an effective case study might be developed.
  • Do background research on the companies about which cases will be written to develop effective interview outlines and to hold a well-informed interview with company leaders.
  • Occasionally may provide writing and research for other curriculum deliverables, other than case studies.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and three or more years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Experience with Stanford GSB's entrepreneurial curriculum.
  • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in an area of specialization (entrepreneurship).
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.
  • Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule.

In addition, preferred requirements include:
  • Very strong preference given to candidates who are recent (1-5 years) Stanford MBA or MSx graduates who took multiple entrepreneurial courses during their educational experience, thus having familiarity with Stanford Graduate School of Business' recent entrepreneurial curriculum.
  • Outstanding demonstrated writing ability.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills and an ability to work independently to consistently deliver high quality results on schedule.
  • Ability to skillfully conduct interviews to gather insights and information.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Solid financial skills and good understanding of how to create, read, and interpret financial statements.
  • Success in one or more entrepreneurship courses.

The expected pay range for this position is $116,966 to $150,114 per year. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
