Job description

Position: Administrative Assistant (Temporary Assignment)

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and office support for Newton Hotel Family Shelter, located in Manhattan, and serving families experiencing homelessness. This position is responsible for completing assigned office and administrative tasks while maintaining the confidentiality of client, employee, and financial information.

This is a temporary position anticipated to last approximately six months to one year. A tentative end date will be discussed and established at the time of hire. As the assignment nears completion, the selected candidate will be encouraged to explore other opportunities within the organization.

Location: New York, NY 10025

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 60 college credits plus two yearsโ€™ experience in a related field or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.ย 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, business writing skills, the ability to work well with others, and prioritize and take initiative.ย 
  • Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) with Spanish-speaking clients required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.ย ย 

Administrative Assistant Principal Responsibilities:ย 

  • Manage the management of day-to-day office functions, equipment maintenance, and janitorial activities.
  • Coordinate paper and electronic documentation, including receiving, routing and filing of invoices, reports, correspondences, contracts and forms.ย 
  • Prepare reports, correspondences, purchase orders and forms and ensure timely and accurate reporting within the program and to outside entities.
