Job description

As a Private Asset Valuation Specialist, you will play a key role in executing and supporting the valuation process for private asset investments within Vanguard. Responsibilities include performing detailed valuation analyses, developing and maintaining valuation models, preparing materials for governance and audit review, and partnering with internal stakeholders to support accurate and timely valuation outcomes.

As part of a growing team, you will also contribute to building and refining processes, controls, and capabilities that support Vanguard's private asset valuation framework.

Responsibilities

  • Performs valuation reviews of private equity and other private asset investments, including development and review of financial models and supporting analyses.

  • Provides feedback to external valuation providers

  • Analyzes financial statements, investment documentation, and market data to support valuation assumptions and conclusions.

  • Prepares valuation materials and presentations for internal committees, auditors, and other key stakeholders.

  • Consults on and oversees the completion of valuation deliverables and outcomes. Serves as a key resource for operational processes, reporting, and data requests from internal stakeholders, service providers, and regulators.

  • Partners with investment advisor, accounting, and finance teams to gather inputs and ensure consistency in valuation methodologies.

  • Supports valuation governance processes, including documentation, controls, and audit requests. Manages and enhances key financial controls to ensure integrity in valuation results.

  • Assists in onboarding new portfolio investments and ensures models, data, and documentation follow best practices.

  • Communicates progress, risks, and solutions to senior stakeholders to drive alignment and decision-making.

  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of valuation processes, tools, and reporting frameworks.

  • Participates in team initiatives and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of valuation consulting experience or 5+ years of relevant audit, valuation, transaction services, or analytical experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline.

  • Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and financial modeling techniques.

  • Proficiency in Excel and experience building and maintaining financial models.

  • Familiarity with private equity or other illiquid asset valuations.

  • Progress toward or completion of CFA, CPA, or similar designation is a plus.
