Job description

Overview
A growing multi-site operation is seeking an experienced Asset Management Specialist to lead fleet management, equipment reliability, maintenance planning, asset lifecycle strategies, and capital asset initiatives across multiple operating locations.
This position serves as the organization's primary resource for equipment performance, fleet utilization, maintenance planning, asset tracking, and long-term capital asset management. The successful candidate will work closely with operations leadership to maximize equipment availability, reduce downtime, control maintenance costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.
This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Asset & Fleet Management
  • Manage heavy equipment, mobile equipment, production equipment, facilities, and related assets
  • Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Monitor equipment utilization, maintenance costs, downtime, and reliability metrics
  • Develop asset lifecycle plans to maximize return on investment
  • Lead equipment replacement, acquisition, disposition, and capital planning initiatives
  • Evaluate equipment ownership versus rental strategies

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
  • Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance trends
  • Implement strategies to improve equipment availability and operational performance
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action planning related to equipment failures
  • Coordinate major repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance projects

Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Manage relationships with equipment dealers, vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Coordinate warranty claims and service agreements
  • Evaluate vendor performance and identify cost-saving opportunities

Inventory & Resource Management
  • Develop and maintain critical spare parts programs
  • Manage maintenance inventory, tools, consumables, and asset tracking systems
  • Improve inventory accuracy and resource availability

Continuous Improvement
  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing downtime and operating costs
  • Support implementation of fleet management technology, telematics, and asset tracking systems
  • Analyze asset performance and develop recommendations for improvement

Required Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in asset management, fleet management, maintenance leadership, mining, aggregates, heavy construction, industrial operations, manufacturing, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and fleet operations
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Proficiency with maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office, and business reporting tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with crushing, screening, aggregate production, mining, material processing, or heavy equipment operations
  • Experience with telematics and asset management technology
  • Experience with capital planning and equipment procurement
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Management, or related field
