What You'll do
The Asset Manager plays a critical role in maximizing the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of utility-scale solar assets. This position serves as the central point of coordination across internal teams, third-party service providers, and external stakeholders. The Asset Manager is responsible for ensuring that each project operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all contractual and regulatory obligations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
โ€ข Full P&L ownership of the asset portfolio, including monthly variance analysis, revenue tracking, and cost control.
โ€ข Manage tax equity investor relationships and reporting requirements, including flip model tracking and sponsor equity distributions
โ€ข Oversee debt compliance, including liquidity forecasting, reserve account funding, and debt service coverage monitoring.
โ€ข Forecast and manage liquidity needs across project entities, ensuring adequate working capital and alignment with distribution schedules.
โ€ข Prepare and present detailed financial reports for internal leadership, tax equity investors, and lenders.
โ€ข Coordinate annual audits, tax return preparation, and investor reporting with accounting and legal teams.
โ€ข Approve invoices and monitor unbudgeted or non-recurring expenses to ensure alignment with budget and financial targets.
Commercial Management
โ€ข Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including offtakers, utilities, maintenance contractors, and service providers, ensuring timely resolution of issues and execution of contractual obligations.
โ€ข Conduct risk assessments across contracts and commercial operations, identifying exposure and recommending mitigations.
โ€ข Drive portfolio value optimization through variance analysis, renegotiation opportunities, and proactive contract management.
โ€ข Identify and implement cost reduction strategies related to O&M, asset level expenses, and third-party services.
โ€ข Manage warranty claims, performance guarantees, and equipment failure resolutions in collaboration with OEMs and service providers.
โ€ข Lead commercial negotiations and execution of amendments, renewals, and new agreements in coordination with legal and executive teams.
โ€ข Track and enforce compliance with all commercial agreements, including PPAs, interconnection agreements, land leases, and merchant revenue participation.
Technical Operations
โ€ข Oversee daily operations of utility-scale solar assets, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance across the portfolio.
โ€ข Partner with O&M providers to monitor and improve plant performance, leveraging SCADA and monitoring platforms to track real-time data and KPIs.
โ€ข Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans for performance deviations and outages.
โ€ข Coordinate project commissioning and handover from construction to operations, ensuring documentation, testing, and warranty initiation are complete.
โ€ข Develop and oversee site-level maintenance plans, asset health reviews, and performance optimization strategies.
โ€ข Support technical audits, annual inspections, and NERC or environmental compliance as applicable.
General & Strategic Responsibilities
โ€ข Serve as the operational lead for day-to-day asset management, ensuring execution of both recurring and ad hoc responsibilities.
โ€ข Collaborate cross-functionally with development, engineering, finance, legal, and compliance teams to align asset operations with business strategy.
โ€ข Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement within the asset management function.
โ€ข Maintain organized and auditable project documentation in line with internal controls, stakeholder expectations, and industry standards.
โ€ข Support strategic initiatives including refinancing, M&A diligence, and tax equity structuring.
โ€ข Represent the company in partner meetings, regulatory discussions, and cross-organizational workstreams as needed.
Who we're looking for
Knowledge
โ€ข Understanding of utility-scale solar PV systems, including design, operations, maintenance, and performance analytics.
โ€ข Proficient in financial management of energy assets, including budgeting, P&L analysis, cash flow forecasting, and tax equity and debt compliance.
Familiarity with key project agreements such as PPAs, O&M and EPC contracts, interconnection agreements, and financing documents
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or Business Administration
Experience
โ€ข 3+ years of experience in Asset Management or Operations
โ€ข The ideal candidate worked for financial investors active in the renewable space internationally, and IPP or a vertically integrated developer
