What You'll DoWork alongside City Utilities engineers on projects that support Fort Wayne's water and utility infrastructure. You'll divide your time between office assignments and hands-on fieldwork while learning how public engineering projects move from planning to design.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct field visits, surveys, equipment inspections and asset-data collectionCompare engineering plans and specifications with existing field conditionsAssist engineers with project planning, design research and specification preparationOrganize project data, prepare preliminary reports and present recommendationsComplete lift-station inspections, data tracking, filing and required City trainingWhat You Bring – Education & ExperienceCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering TechnologyCompletion of at least two years of college is preferredStrong attention to detail, organization and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently, manage changing priorities and contribute as part of a teamAbility to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and work in both office and outdoor environmentsA valid driver's license is required when operating a City vehicleTechnical Skills & KnowledgeWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPointAbility to read and interpret plans, diagrams and technical informationComfortable collecting, organizing and communicating technical dataProficiency in English; Spanish or Burmese language skills are a plusWhy Work for the City of Fort WayneBuild practical experience, learn directly from experienced engineers and contribute to infrastructure projects that serve the Fort Wayne community every day.
