Job Description:

The Software Acquisition and Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, management, and compliance of software licenses and assets across the organization. This role involves working closely with various departments to ensure that software acquisitions meet business needs while adhering to budget constraints and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software asset management, procurement processes, and compliance regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end software acquisition process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and purchase order issuance.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all software assets, licenses, and entitlements.
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits of software usage and licensing to identify and mitigate any compliance risks.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on software compliance and asset management best practices.
  • Monitor and manage software maintenance and support agreements to ensure timely renewals and cost-effectiveness.
  • Load and maintain software entitlements in the asset management system.
  • Perform effective license position (ELP) analysis to ensure optimal usage and compliance with licensing terms.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in software licensing models and compliance regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on software asset management and compliance status to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, agreements, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with software asset management tools and systems (ServiceNow).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or ITIL are a plus.
  • Experience working in a managed service environment is a plus.
