Job description

Job Title: Production Assembler / Production Assembly Technician
Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and supporting the production of fuel cells used in the railroad and aviation industries, including applications for drones. You will work in a modern, air-conditioned facility, performing hands-on mechanical assembly, batching and mixing, and operating production equipment while following established processes, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform batching and mixing operations, including accurate use of scales to measure materials.
  • Operate production machinery and mechanical equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Use hand tools to perform machine operations and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Carry out assembly operations for fuel cell components according to standard processes and work instructions.
  • Follow all safety protocols consistently, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Record production and test data as specified, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Produce parts that meet defined quality, dimensional, and production specifications.
  • Train on and routinely perform up to three Standard Processes as assigned.
  • Collaborate as a positive and respectful team member, communicating clearly and taking direction constructively.
  • Identify and communicate issues or concerns promptly to support successful and continuous operations.
  • Exercise independent judgment within assigned job functions to solve routine problems and keep work moving.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, recognizing that being on time and present is critical to this role.
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership to support production needs.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform batching and mixing using scales with accurate measurements.
  • Experience with basic machine operation in a production setting or strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Capability to perform assembly and fabrication tasks using hand tools.
  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to navigate spreadsheets, watch training videos, and operate test stations.
  • Ability to perform quality inspection and follow production specifications.
  • Ability to see color accurately to ensure correct wiring and component identification.
  • Good manual dexterity to handle small components and perform precise assembly work.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and documentation.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use PPE correctly.
  • Effective communication skills to raise issues and collaborate with team members.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using small hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, screw drills, hand drills, snips, and dryers.
  • At least 6 months of machine operation experience or a strong willingness to learn machine operation.
  • Familiarity with 5S or other workplace organization practices.
  • Experience working with fuel cells, electronics, or similar precision assemblies is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven production environment.

Work Environment

You will work around mechanical equipment, test stations, and assembly lines, using hand tools, small precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers, and production machinery. The workplace follows 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness and organization, and requires consistent use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols. The role involves standing, handling small components, and working with wiring and color-coded parts in a structured, process-driven setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
