Position: Asphalt Quality Control Technician Lvl 3
Reports To: QC Manager
FLSA Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt
Location: 5880 Lipan St. Denver, CO 80216
Hourly Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00
Sign on Bonus: $600.00
Position Summary:
A QC Tech III at Brannan performs routine duties to complex field observations for the purpose of verifying Asphalt and Aggregate materials to the construction plans and specifications. This is done by the testing and inspection of road construction materials, including but not limited to: Hot Mix Asphalt, Aggregates and Field Density.
Functional Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for performing proper procedures and accurate computations for all testing methods
  • Responsible for testing materials and finished products to ensure they conform to all applicable standards and specifications
  • Develop skills and knowledge to acquire CAPA E Certification
  • Provide verbal and written material test results to QC Manager, QC Supervisor, Plant Operators, and Plant Managers
  • Understanding of AASHTO, ASTM, and CDOT Specification
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation events and proficiency sample testing
  • Perform field nuclear density gauge testing and instruct paving crew and roller operators to achieve passing results
  • Perform asphalt coring and patching
  • Develops the attitude and skills to provide training and guidance to other technicians
  • Conducts calibrations and verifications of laboratory testing equipment
  • Preforms on-site observations, collects representative samples, and performs tests to monitor construction processes
  • Records observations and results that are reported daily to supervisors
  • Practices organization, cleanliness, attention to detail, quality and safety
  • Communicate effectively with managers, field personnel, lab personnel and clients
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends (including overtime)

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • 5 years experience specifically working in Asphalt QC
  • CDOT QC/QA Certifications CAPA Level A, B, & C, Required
  • Hazmat & nuclear gauge safety training certification, Preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing - 6 to 8 hours daily
  • Walking - 6 to 8 hours daily
  • Bending/Stooping - 6 to 8 hours daily
  • Repetitive Movement (shoveling/sweeping) - 6 to 8 hours daily
  • Lifting (weights up to 100 lbs.) - Occasionally
  • Lift and Carry (50/60 lbs. for 300 feet) - Regularly
  • Push / Pull - 6 to 8 hours daily
