Civil Construction Project Manager – Lead High-Impact Infrastructure and Roadway Developments


Job Overview:

  • Company: Florence Cement Company.
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $100,000 - $150,000 per year plus Performance Bonus.
  • Location: Metro Detroit, MI (Onsite).
  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (Weekends required during construction season).
  • Project Scope: Civil Construction, Roadway Repair, Utilities, and Sitework (Commercial, Industrial).
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.
The Opportunity

You will serve as a pivotal leader for a third-generation family-owned industry leader, overseeing the full lifecycle of complex roadway and site packages. This role empowers you to manage significant infrastructure projects for the Michigan Department of Transportation, General Contractors and private developers while being supported by an executive team that is deeply involved in your professional success.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Coordinate comprehensive project planning and scheduling to ensure seamless execution of construction activities from start-up to final close-out.
  • Administer project budgets and implement rigorous cost controls to maintain financial health and project profitability.
  • Manage a diverse network of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure all site work meets quality and timeline specifications.
  • Execute change order management and resolve quantity or payment discrepancies with owners to protect company interests.
  • Develop and sustain long-term relationships with municipal agencies, consulting engineers, and private developers.
  • Strengthen team performance by mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of personal accountability and high-quality delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management; equivalent field experience will also be considered.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects within the civil or heavy highway construction sectors.
  • Direct experience working on projects for MDOT, local communities, or various government agencies.
  • Advanced proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary for high-stakes professional negotiation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience specifically within civil infrastructure or roadway construction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing excavation, utility work, and concrete/asphalt paving packages.
  • Proven track record of operating successfully within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
