Job description

Radiographic Testing (RT) Level III

We are seeking a highly qualified ASNT Level III in Radiographic Testing (RT) to serve as the technical authority for all radiographic inspection activities. This role is responsible for developing and approving RT procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and providing oversight, training, and certification of RT personnel.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities to support both field operations and quality assurance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and approve Radiographic Testing (RT) procedures in accordance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.).
  • Interpret radiographic images (film and/or digital) and evaluate results against acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the Responsible Level III, overseeing RT operations and ensuring compliance with written practices.
  • Train, examine, and certify Level I and Level II RT technicians in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for RT inspections in the field and shop environments.
  • Ensure proper use, calibration, and compliance of RT equipment (X-ray and gamma sources).
  • Maintain radiation safety compliance in coordination with Radiation Safety Officers (RSO) and regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with clients, auditors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Review and approve inspection reports and documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance programs.

Qualifications

  • Current ASNT Level III certification in Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Radiographic Testing, with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME Section V, API, AWS, etc.).
  • Proven experience in procedure development and approval.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional NDT certifications (UT, MT, PT, or VT).
  • Experience with digital radiography (DR/CR).
  • Prior experience serving as a Responsible Level III.
  • Experience in industries such as oil & gas, construction, or manufacturing.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in field, shop, and industrial environments.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • May require climbing, confined space entry, and working at heights.
  • Must be able to work around radiation-controlled areas in compliance with safety standards.
