To thrive as an AS400 RPG Developer, you need strong programming skills in RPG (Report Program Generator), knowledge of IBM iSeries/AS400 systems, and a relevant degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with technical tools such as IBM iSeries Navigator, SQL, CL programming, and sometimes certifications like IBM Certified Specialist for System i is typical. What is an AS400 RPG Developer?

An AS400 RPG Developer is a software professional who specializes in developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using the RPG (Report Program Generator) programming language on IBM's AS400 (now IBM i) platform. These developers work primarily with legacy business systems, often in industries like banking, manufacturing, and logistics. Their responsibilities include writing and debugging code, integrating AS400 systems with modern technologies, and ensuring the reliability and performance of mission-critical applications.
