Role Overview:
Responsible for developing, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting business applications running on the IBM AS400 (IBM i) platform. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain applications using RPG III, RPG IV (RPGLE), CLLE, and SQLRPGLE.
  • Analyze business requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Design, code, test, and implement IBM i applications.
  • Develop and maintain DB2/400 database objects, files, views, and stored procedures.
  • Perform application support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production issues.
  • Create and execute unit test cases and support UAT activities.
  • Monitor scheduled jobs, batch processes, and system performance.
  • Work with source control and change management tools.
  • Prepare technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for enhancements and system integrations.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational coding and security standards.

Required Skills:
  • AS400/iSeries-based application development, support and enhancement.
  • COBOL & AS400/iSeries architecture using ILE (COBOL, RPGLE, CLLE, QS36) + IBM DB2 (SQL, SPs, query optimization, green screen) with deep legacy modernization expertise.
  • ILE modernization & AS400 performance optimization, including refactoring, tuning, and production stability.
  • Strong experience with IBM Liberty (WebSphere Liberty) & WebSphere in hybrid legacy-modern architectures.
  • Advanced Unix/Linux proficiency (scripting, job control, cross-platform support).
  • Expertise in IBM MQ (ILE MQ Series) & XML integration, including SSIS-based messaging workflows.
  • Proven ability to architect scalable, high-performance, mission-critical systems bridging legacy and modern platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather, refine, and convert business requirements into functional requirements and working production code.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver high quality work in an iterative development model.

  • 3+ years of strong experience with IBM Liberty (WebSphere Liberty) & WebSphere in hybrid legacy-modern architectures.
