Job Description

Since 1985 The Brook Hospital has been offering hope to individuals, families, and communities. The Brook is the leader in providing quality mental health and addiction treatment services.  The Brook – Dupont, located in Louisville, KY, is an 88-bed hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient, extended care, partial hospitalization and outpatient services for children and adults.

We are seeking a dedicated and creative Activity Therapist Intern with an interest in Art Therapy to join our therapeutic team. This internship provides hands-on experience in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment focused on recovery, wellness, and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports and implements program philosophy, working closely with other personnel to ensure that each treatment interventions are appropriate for the patient.
  • Maintains high quality documentation of all therapy services consistent with facility policies in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines as established by facility policy and procedures.
  • Maintains professional, ethical standards and all legal requirements.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide patient-centered care.
  • Assesses patients’ needs regularly and assists in the development and updating of the Master Treatment plan.
  • Facilities group activity therapy to assigned patients.
  • Assists team with planning and executing special events for patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific physical, motor, cognitive, language and social/personality developments. Utilizing development levels within the application of activity therapy.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and safe work practice.
  • Attends hospital safety trainings.
