Your Role as Practicum & Internship Placement Coordinator
The Practicum & Internship Placement Coordinator for the Department of Counseling & Human Services works in close collaboration with the department chair, faculty, and program coordinators to support and maintain high-quality practicum and internship placements in alignment with CACREP standards. This role serves as the primary point of contact for students and site supervisors, facilitating placements, maintaining records, and ensuring consistent communication among all stakeholders. The Placement Coordinator also develops and sustains partnerships with clinical and school counseling sites while assisting in resolving placement-related challenges and contributing to departmental planning and assessment efforts. This is a part-time position. The total working hours may not exceed an average of 28 per week (this would include any advisement and/or teaching responsibilities). The salary will be paid bi-weekly equally distributed across 52 weeks during the year.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the chair, program coordinators and faculty to uphold CACREP Standards related to practicum and internship placements.
Act as the point of contact for students concerning potential sites for Practicum and Internship.
Track and maintain practicum and internship applications (from students) and placement site information (from sites).
Collaborate with prospective sites to facilitate placement of students in appropriate clinical mental health and school counseling sites, as required by the programs.
Collaborate with Practicum/Internship course instructors, dept. chair, program coordinators and faculty advisors to respond to student obstacles, and/or resolve issues related to placements.
Communicate with site supervisors on a regular basis regarding potential practicum and internship candidates.
Communicate with site supervisors on a regular basis regarding changes in university, department, program, or accreditation policies/procedures related to placements.
Facilitate ongoing communication between site supervisors and Practicum/Internship candidates.
Identify and facilitate agreements between potential/new partnerships/sites.
Attend department meetings.
Hold a minimum number of on-campus office hours (2-4 per week).
Contribute to annual department planning/assessment day.
Manage/setup placement software in collaboration with Faculty.
Provide orientation to site supervisors regarding program requirements and expectations.
Communicate with site supervisors regarding professional development opportunities.
Collect and review student evaluations regarding the practicum and internship placement process, sites, and site supervisors and share them with the department.
Additional duties as appropriate and related to student placements in collaboration with the Dept. Chair.

Education & CERTIFICATIONS :
  • Active Counseling - Master's level - LMHC (licensed mental health counselor), SC (school counselor) or related mental health field.

KNOWLEDGE, Skills & Abilities:
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with various constituencies, including students, faculty, administrators, and the general public.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge, and experience with the Ellucian Banner System is preferred.
  • Strong data entry skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment and independently.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States (this position is not eligible for sponsorship).
