Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a CLINICAL RISK MANAGEMENT & PATIENT SAFETY PARTNER to join our CARE INTEGRATION team!
Accountable for the development, implementation, and measurement of a risk exposure and patient safety program designed to reduce incidence of harm in healthcare settings and claims against Aspirus. Acts as a resource for Aspirus Quality Partners. Collects, analyzes, trends and aggregates information pertaining to patient safety, medical error reduction, potential and actual liabilities and claims. Accountable for operationalizing strategies to reduce risk/improve safety by seeking leadership support, cultural, and fiscal. Serves as liaison between entities and collaborates with legal counsel in claims management. Educational resource for medical and non-medical staff related to patient safety, risk, medical malpractice, and claims. In collaboration with Fiscal Services and Legal Counsel, reviews insurance and risk financing functions. Directs and facilitates sentinel event, root cause analysis and FMEA process in conjunction with Quality Managers. Content expert to collaborate for National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) sentinel event processes, improvement, and metrics. Works closely with Risk Managers, Quality Managers, and the Vice President of Corporate Quality/Patient Safety Officer for Aspirus.
HOURS:
Full-Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every 2 weeks.
Experience/Qualifications
  • Knowledge of risk and patient safety standards and practices normally acquired through completion of an RN License or Bachelor's Degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field required.
  • A Master's Degree or other graduate degree in a healthcare or other pertinent related field desired.
  • Three (3) years' experience in risk management, quality, or patient safety desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent communication. Ability to address sensitive topics in non-punitive, learning fashion.
  • Proven effective presentation skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory agencies specific to hospital operations, i.e., JC, OSHA, HCFA, and FDA with proficient application of risk management standards necessary for compliance functions.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, or American Society for Health Care Risk Management certificate (CPHRM) desired.
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft applications and database concepts.
  • Knowledge of principles of medical record documentation
