Job description

Job Title: Senior Buyer

Location: Pleasanton, CA 94588 (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12 Months

Position Overview

The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials, sub-assemblies, equipment, software services, and other supplies in alignment with approved purchase orders while optimizing cost, quality, supplier reliability, and delivery timelines. This role supports procurement activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs with a strong emphasis on software Statements of Work (SOWs) and licensing purchase orders. The position requires effective vendor engagement, contract negotiation, and close coordination with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure materials, services, and equipment in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
  • Develop, issue, and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
  • Lead vendor negotiations to achieve favorable pricing, contract terms, and service levels.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes, capabilities, and performance to select optimal vendors.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including issue resolution and performance monitoring.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within procurement processes.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, supply chain, finance, and project teams to support NPI programs.
  • Administer and manage software-related SOWs, licensing agreements, and associated procurement documentation.
  • Utilize procurement systems to maintain accurate purchasing data and reporting.
  • Expedite orders as needed to meet project timelines and operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage stakeholders and suppliers effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and Ariba procurement systems.
  • Experience managing contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • 2โ€“5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with software licensing procurement and vendor management.
  • Experience supporting NPI or project-based procurement environments.
  • Familiarity with standard purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures.
