 Ice Arena Desk Check In Monitor


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills to effectively manage the ice arena environment.
  • Highly alert, attentive, and responsible, ensuring the safety and compliance of all patrons.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers, enforce policies, and address concerns      professionally.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Ice Arena Monitor is responsible for overseeing and maintaining a safe and organized environment in the ice arena during scheduled CHPRSA programming. This role requires proactive supervision, enforcement of facility policies, and exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for all patrons.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Part-time, non-benefited position with flexible scheduling.
  • Shifts range from 2 to 6 hours and may fall into the following time slot:
    • 8:00-3:00pm
  • Work involves exposure to cold temperatures inside the ice arena.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Hourly Wage: $12.50 – 14.51 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the ice arena and ensure that only authorized individuals (paying patrons and approved coaches) enter Freestyle, Stick ‘n Puck, and Drop-In Hockey sessions.
  • Monitor the ice rink lobby and surrounding areas to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons, answering questions, and enforcing facility rules in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Address conflicts or policy violations in a calm and authoritative manner, escalating issues to management as necessary.
  • Ensure all participants check in before entering the ice and confirm that waivers or required payments have been      completed.
  • Observe on-ice activities to ensure adherence to  safety guidelines and proper rink etiquette.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to management promptly.
  • Assist with basic facility upkeep, such as ensuring common areas remain clean and organized.
Requirements:

 EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining awareness of the surrounding environment.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in customer service, recreation, or an ice arena setting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ice rink activities such as hockey, figure skating, and freestyle sessions.

Training/Education/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association (must be obtained before the hire date).
  • Applicants 18 years and older must pass a criminal background check before employment.
