Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced Project Manager to oversee Federal environmental remediation projects.  The candidate will work from the Providence, Rhode Island AECOM office on a hybrid basis.  (On average 3 days a week in office, flexible arrangement).  

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects

  • Leads teams by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, and practices

  • Utilizes existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Analyzes financial statements and completes budget tracking

  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager

  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team

  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work

  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field with + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Due to nature of work, sponsorship for this role will not be available at this time or in the future.  

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional License (PE, PG)

  • 10+ years' experience in environmental remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions) project management

  • Master's degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree

  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations

  • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for Federal clients (USACE, AFCEC, Navy)

  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills

  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery

  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders

  • Interest in business development

  • Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects

  • Occasional overnight travel required
