Industrial Project Manager - Full Job Description
Job Title: Project Manager

Position Summary
The Industrial Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering industrial, manufacturing, or capital projects within scope, schedule, and cost targets. This role leads cross-functional teams, manages contractors and vendors, and ensures all projects meet operational, quality, and safety standards. Projects may include facility upgrades, equipment installations, process improvements, automation initiatives, and large-scale CAPEX deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
  • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle using standard project management methodologies.
  • Define scope, requirements, success criteria, and deliverables.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Technical & Industrial Knowledge
  • Work with engineering teams to review drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, and validation of industrial equipment.
  • Oversee construction and layout changes within manufacturing or industrial environments.

  • Manage vendor/OEM relationships, procurement, and contract negotiations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as primary project liaison between engineering, operations, finance, safety, and leadership teams.
  • Facilitate design reviews, project updates, and stakeholder alignment meetings.
  • Navigate operational constraints such as downtime scheduling and plant safety protocols.
Budget & Cost Control
  • Create detailed project budgets and capital requests.
  • Track project costs, forecasts, and variances through ERP systems.
  • Manage change orders, contracts, and vendor invoicing.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain project documentation, stage-gate deliverables, and as-built records.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on progress, risks, milestones, and financials.
  • Capture lessons learned and implemented continuous improvement actions.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.

  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • OSHA 30 or industry-specific safety training.
Experience
  • 5-7+ years of industrial, manufacturing, construction, or CAPEX project management experience.
  • Proven success delivering projects involving equipment installation, facility upgrades, automation, or process improvements.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Familiarity with EPC, design-build, or stage-gate project delivery methods.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of industrial processes, automation systems, and equipment.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling tools.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and cost-control capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Effective leadership of contractors, technicians, vendors, and internal teams.
