Overview

SUMMARY:

The Area Manager reports to the General Manager and holds a pivotal role in the Field Solutions organization as a front-line manager. The Area Manager is responsible for all aspects of the business including growth of our customer base, management and development of people, operational excellence, and the overall profitability of their assigned market.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of assigned staff.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of route salespeople to drive revenue growth through effective customer management, new business development, route schedule compliance, proper inventory handling procedures, and promoting safe driving and workplace safety.
  • Mentor and contribute to the professional development of route sales/delivery personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the delivery of best-in-class route distribution service by upholding our operational excellence standards.
  • Prioritize exceptional customer care, aiming for customer satisfaction at every touchpoint.
  • Grow market share through business development and account management to maximize profitability.
  • Effectively support our national accounts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years route sales management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a strong team.
  • Ability to work independently with an exceptional work ethic.
  • Ability to while maintaining an outgoing and success driven personality.
  • Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:
    • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence.
    • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, computers, and copy machines.
    • Beyond basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel, as required and periodically requiring overnight stay to attend meetings, training and other work-related events as scheduled.
  • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a similar discipline and/or equivalent experience in a supervisory role.
  • Route sales management experience in a beverage market and/or route distribution.
  • Prior experience using hand-held sales device tools and experience with SAP are highly preferable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the positionwhich are required to successfully perform each essential responsibility. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the core responsibilities. These physical demands may include, among other functions:
    • The ability to safely climb up and down stairs or ramps at customer locations, and in and out of trucks.
    • The ability to sit and walk for extended periods of time.
    • The ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment.
    • The ability push or pull up to 250lbs with the use of hand truck and lift equipment or product up to 55lbs.
    • The ability carry product up to 55lbs.
    • The ability to maintain a valid DOT medical certificate as is required to operate regulated vehicles.
