The Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving group business and revenue by developing new accounts, maintaining strong client relationships, and coordinating group sales opportunities from initial inquiry through completion. This position works closely with the Sales, Events, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Operations teams to ensure an exceptional guest experience while meeting or exceeding revenue goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase group room nights, meetings, events, and overall hotel revenue.

  • Identify and pursue new group business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, sales calls, and community involvement.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with meeting planners, corporate clients, tour operators, social groups, sports organizations, and other key accounts.

  • Respond to group inquiries and prepare proposals, contracts, and presentations in a timely and professional manner.

  • Conduct property tours and client meetings to showcase hotel accommodations, meeting spaces, amenities, and services.

  • Negotiate rates, packages, concessions, and contract terms within established guidelines.

  • Manage the sales process from initial lead through contract and turnover to the appropriate operations team.

  • Maintain accurate records of accounts, leads, proposals, contracts, and activities within the hotel's sales system.

  • Conduct follow-up with clients to secure business and maximize revenue opportunities.

  • Work closely with the Revenue Management team to ensure appropriate pricing and availability for group business.

  • Collaborate with Catering and Event teams to identify additional revenue opportunities and ensure successful execution of group events.

  • Participate in sales calls, trade shows, networking events, community functions, and industry meetings.

  • Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently meet or exceed assigned sales goals.

  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and local business opportunities.

  • Assist with forecasting, reporting, and other sales-related administrative responsibilities.

  • Ensure all client communication is professional, timely, and consistent with company standards.

  • Resolve client concerns and work with hotel leadership and operations to ensure guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest, client, and company information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Previous hotel sales, group sales, hospitality, or related experience preferred.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities.

  • Professional presentation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required for client events or business development.
