This is a hands-on technical architecture role, not a strategy-only or governance-only position. The ideal candidate will be able to independently design solutions, write Python, prototype and validate AI solutions, evaluate models, and work closely with engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.

  • Provide technical leadership across application, data, integration, cloud, and AI initiatives.

  • Architect and evaluate GenAI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions.

  • Build prototypes and perform technical validation using Python.

  • Evaluate AI models based on quality, accuracy, performance, latency, cost, and reliability.

  • Design enterprise RAG architectures including embeddings, vector search, retrieval, and LLM integration.

  • Guide API-driven, event-driven, and enterprise integration architectures.

  • Establish architecture governance, security, compliance, risk, and AI guardrails.

  • Review and approve solution designs and guide engineering teams on implementation.

  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and drive the evolution of enterprise AI platform capabilities.

  • Independently lead complex initiatives with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Enterprise/Solution/Technical Architecture experience.

  • Strong enterprise architecture experience across application, data, integration, cloud, and platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with AI/GenAI, LLMs, and RAG.

  • Mandatory hands-on Python experience with recent coding/prototyping.

  • Experience with AI/model evaluation and technical validation.

  • Strong cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform; AWS strongly preferred.

  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and hybrid architectures.

  • Strong understanding of API-driven and event-driven architectures.

  • Experience with data architecture, governance, and enterprise integration.

  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, risk, scalability, and resiliency.

  • Excellent technical communication and ability to explain architecture decisions and tradeoffs.

Preferred Technical Skills

AI/GenAI: LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, AI evaluation, AI governance
Cloud AI: AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI
RAG/Search: Vector databases, embeddings, semantic/hybrid search, reranking
Development: Python, REST APIs, SDKs, automation, prototyping
Architecture: Microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, APIs, hybrid cloud

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior/Principal Enterprise Architect who can combine enterprise architecture leadership with practical AI engineering. They should be capable of taking a business problem, designing the architecture, writing code/prototyping the solution, evaluating AI models, and guiding the implementation.

Candidates must be able to work onsite in Charlotte 3 days per week.
