Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Design & Construction team at Anduril delivers the factories, labs, offices, and secure spaces that enable our teams to design, build, and deploy advanced defense technology. Our projects span high-performance manufacturing facilities, mission-critical secure environments, and collaborative workspaces, giving our team exposure to a uniquely wide variety of technical and operational challenges. More than just delivering buildings, we are (literally) rebuilding the American defense industrial base. Our work directly accelerates how quickly critical technology moves from concept to production and into the hands of the warfighter.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Capital Operations team sits within the broader Design & Construction organization at Anduril. We are responsible for providing the critical support needed to bring our sites to life. We do so by creating, maintaining, and executing key operational process, analytics, and tools. All the while, we are collaborating with a variety of stakeholders involved in shaping the built environment needed to enable Anduril's mission (construction managers, architects, industrial engineers, real estate planners, finance analysts, and many more). But, first and foremost, we deeply listen to what our Division Leaders need. Whether it is autonomous submarines, robot fighter jets, or AR headsets, we stay close to our end users to ensure we're fueling their success.
This is the team's Swiss-army-knife role. As our Strategy & Operations lead for Capital Projects, you'll be the high-horsepower, variable resource we point at our most ambiguous and highest-stakes problems - from building the tools and analytics that run our organization, to embedding on our largest megaprojects to keep them moving.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Megaproject Support:

  • Embed alongside Anduril Construction Project Managers on our largest, cannot-fail megaprojects (advanced-manufacturing plants, energetics facilities, shipyards, and secure environments) to make sure scope is fully captured and that key decisions and updates reach executives clearly and quickly.
  • Serve as connective tissue between Anduril business lines and Design & Construction. Maintain project velocity by leading recurring stakeholder meetings and set, track, and enforce hard deadlines on critical-path action items.
  • Frame executive-level decisions by building the analyses that lay out the cost and timing tradeoffs behind core design and construction choices.
  • Where needed, support early facility conceptualization (including cost-vs-revenue and breakeven models) and validate user readiness; locking operational requirements before design kicks off to prevent costly churn.

Design & Construction Tooling & Analytics:

  • Power the innovation engine for our Design & Construction org. Build financial dashboards and reports, create approval flows, collaborate on facility design standards, and anything else that needs to be done to make us better. Start scrappy - build the "V1" in Excel, test and iterate, then graduate the tools that prove out into industry software.
  • Work deeply within data and systems, becoming intimately familiar with industry-standard real estate and construction software, and then leverage the data from them to create insights and analytics (using tools like Excel, Palantir Foundry, etc.), equipping functional teams to measure and improve their processes.

Site Turnovers:

  • Own the "last mile" of launching factories, offices, and secure spaces. Partner with Construction Project Managers and Facilities Managers to drive construction punchlists down to zero open issues, guarantee Production teams have all the infrastructure they need, and ensure facilities are properly integrated with teams like physical security, network engineering, and more.

Special Projects & Executive Support:

  • Prepare crisp briefings to senior executives, providing general updates and expediting decisions on large projects.
  • Project manage across many stakeholders. If you don't like being the person leading meetings with large groups of people or managing large Slack channels to wrangle stakeholders towards a solution, this may not be the role for you.
  • Take on high-stakes, executive-facing special projects, which can occasionally reach beyond strict D&C into Space Planning, Facilities Management, Corporate Real Estate, Industrial Engineering, and other fields as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • You have 4+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, internal operations, or a business analyst role - or some other experience where you just had to figure out how to get stuff done
  • Proven experience in Design & Construction, or the ability to ramp into the domain quickly and the passion to do so.
  • You lean into acknowledging your weaknesses and take the idea of feedback and growth seriously.
  • You are self-driven and relentlessly proactive. You don't need someone to tell you to "move". You just move. We'd rather have to tell you to slow down than to speed up.
  • You don't wait on others to solve problems. You proactively step into the gap to offer solutions yourself.
  • You enjoy working at a place where no one minds if you leave early one day to go to an appointment or run an errand, but you also don't mind responding to Slacks in the evening while you're watching Netflix.
  • You have an appetite to build clear frameworks to structure problems.
  • You have strong analytical aptitude. You intuitively think about problems in terms of numbers and data-models, and you are able to quickly execute analyses in Excel.
  • You can elegantly and concisely communicate with executives. You leverage PowerPoint as your canvas to relay answers to senior management.
  • You are comfortable communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work. This role can at-times require comms to large groups and senior leadership. This should excite you!
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in related areas like infrastructure & capital projects consulting, real estate investment banking, construction management, and engineering design.
