Description
The Quality Engineer at Kondex Corporation will assist in auditing and maintaining the Kondex Quality System as a member of the Internal Audit and Quality Team, responsible for administering policies and procedures, performing quality planning for new products, resolving customer and supplier issues, leading quality improvement activities, and general problem-solving while working to improve quality, efficiency, and performance of Kondex products and processes through streamlining, eliminating waste and increasing overall value to the customer.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Manage ISO 9001:2015 QMS
2. Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and assist in disposition of non-conforming products and root cause analysis measuring progress through the Total Cost of Quality (TCOQ) metric.
3. Perform and electronically document Customer / Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) information as required.
4. Champion APQP / NPI principles to support successful new product introductions.
5. Develop, design, and validate product inspections of varying complexity, using various gauges, jigs, and tools.
6. Monitor and update the gage calibration program, collaborating with Technicians to complete necessary calibrations, and assist in replacing and procuring measuring devices, as necessary. Train associates in measuring devices and usage.
7. Develop and maintain appropriate statistical process controls, as necessary, to maintain processes within established product requirements.
8. Establish and maintain inspection procedures to support the design specifications of Kondex' s products.
9. Maintain and evaluate data and quality documentation.
10. Initiate and lead corrective actions (CAPA) as investigation warrants and assist in resolving quality issues.
11. Lead supplier quality (SCAR / Qualifications).
12. Lead Continuous Improvement efforts to eliminate waste and promote Lean Manufacturing principles.
13. Develop / Lead layered process audits.
14. Minimal travel to suppliers, vendors, customers, trade shows, etc.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, Quality or related field
2. Prior manufacturing engineering experience (full-time or internships) preferred; five or more years of experience in quality engineering or similar role preferred
3. Working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles preferred
4. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
5. Experience leading FMEA's and Control Plan development preferred
6. Strong knowledge of quality control principles and practices in a metals manufacturing company
7. Proficient in using quality management tools and software
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
9. Ability to work with others, leading and participating in teams
10. Strong communication skills
11. Well organized and detail oriented
12. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
13. Additional education and/or manufacturing experience, with exposure to inspection and statistics preferred
14. Working knowledge of Zeiss Calypso inspection software and CMM programming experience preferred
15. Working knowledge of CAD modeling systems (SolidWorks) preferred
16. Trained in auditing ISO systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and experienced in supplier auditing preferred
17. Six Sigma and/or Shainin Red X preferred
18. Highly desirable behavioral competencies include results oriented, detailed initiative, problem solving and decision making, analytical thinking, organizing and planning, active communications, writing skills, listening skills and collaboration and teamwork.
