The Production Manager leads the operational and strategic management of warehouse functions on the assigned project and has direct collaboration and communication with customers to ensure business objectives are being met. This role is responsible for developing and executing operational strategies, enforcing company policies, improving performance, and ensuring accurate data collection and analysis. This role also includes financial reviews to identify trends, uncover improvement opportunities, and enhance process efficiency and execution. Additionally, this role coordinates resources across departments to achieve value stream objectives, optimize end-to-end processes, and improve delivery speed and quality. Strengthening cross-functional collaboration, enhances customer satisfaction and supports enterprise agility through a holistic view of value creation across the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing a team of front-line supervisors in the planning and execution of day-to-day operations, ensuring a focus on a safety-first culture
  • Managing staffing, supply, and equipment needs based on forecasted volume
  • Mentoring, developing, and expanding talent and performance initiatives throughout the location
  • Identifying and creating continuous process improvement opportunities
  • Overseeing machine maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to minimize downtime
  • Ensuring warehouse staff are trained in health, safety, and environmental practices pertinent to their positions as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and company policies
  • Providing direction and coaching in safe work practices; supporting safety goals
  • Following and enforcing the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) if applicable
  • Working collaboratively with other Ryerson locations and divisions to support enterprise goals
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required
  • 3-4 years of manufacturing management experience, preferably within the metal processing or distribution industry
  • Experience with supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) preferred, Experience with the PPAP process required
  • Experience in stainless steel manufacturing and fabrication; welding experience preferred
  • Ability to read engineering prints and interpret complex fabrication specifications
  • Experience in GD&T includes having the ability to interpret complex fabrication specifications
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated application of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma)
  • Proven leadership, delegation, and employee development skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including frequent interaction with customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams

Salary: $103,639.95 - $155,459.93 annually. A starting salary higher than $103,639.95 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
Travel is required for training. Training is anticipated to require weekly travel for approximately 3 weeks to one of our facilities in Powder Springs, GA.
