What Is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a paid, on-the-job-training opportunity for someone to learn a trade or a skill from experienced tradespeople. In this type of position, duties typically include providing support for professionals with whom you work. Generally, apprentices get more job responsibilities as they progress through their program. During a program, an apprentice may receive classroom training or take certification courses as well as learning on the job. It is common to work towards a professional credential needed to work in your trade independently while completing the training program.

What is the difference between Apprenticeship vs Electrician?

In summary, an apprenticeship is a structured training program combining on-the-job experience with classroom learning, preparing individuals to become licensed electricians. An electrician, on the other hand, is a licensed professional who has completed their apprenticeship and can perform electrical work independently. The apprenticeship is the pathway to becoming a qualified electrician.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an Apprenticeship, and why are they important?

To thrive in an apprenticeship, you need a basic educational background (often a high school diploma or equivalent), a willingness to learn, and foundational knowledge relevant to the trade or industry. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, safety protocols, and, in some cases, certifications like OSHA or trade-specific licenses are valuable. Strong work ethic, communication skills, and adaptability help apprentices stand out as they collaborate with mentors and teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for gaining hands-on experience, progressing in the trade, and building a successful long-term career.

What are some common challenges faced during an apprenticeship and how can they be overcome?

Apprentices often encounter challenges such as balancing on-the-job learning with classroom instruction, adapting to a professional work environment, and managing time effectively. It's common to feel overwhelmed by new tasks or responsibilities, especially in the early stages. Seeking guidance from mentors, actively participating in team projects, and regularly communicating with supervisors can help overcome these challenges. Embracing feedback and focusing on continuous improvement also play a key role in making the most of your apprenticeship experience.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a structured training program that combines paid on-the-job experience with classroom instruction. Apprenticeships are designed to help individuals learn a skilled trade or profession while earning a wage. They typically last from one to four years, depending on the industry and occupation. Upon completion, apprentices often receive a nationally recognized credential and may have the opportunity for full-time employment with their training employer.

At the end of the approximate 18 months you will be able to take state exams and practicals and earn your Hair Design license. You will take group classes to further your education as well as work closely with your master stylists. All of this without paying for cosmetology school. We have monthly calls where you can learn more about this program and ask any questions you may have.
We offer a supportive, upbeat salon culture, top-tier education, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment that fosters growth from day one. If you are currently enrolled in or have graduated from cosmetology school please apply to one of our intern positions.
What You'll Gain

As a Stylist Apprentice, you'll support service providers while learning directly through observation, education, and experience.
Education:
  • Attend weekly training classes with passing performance
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a desire to grow
  • Excessive absenteeism may result in removal from the program

What We're Looking For
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule-including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting
  • At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
