Job description

This Agent Apprenticeship Program is designed for people who want to grow fast and build a long-term career. The expectations are high — professionalism, discipline, and drive are non-negotiable — but the reward is even higher. This track pays extremely well and leads directly into agency ownership and leadership opportunities.***

In this Apprenticeship, you’ll work directly under the top agent in our district — learning not just how to sell insurance, but how to build strong client relationships, write quality business, partner with local businesses, and operate like a true entrepreneur. Meet the program requirements, and you’ll be fully prepared to launch your own agency with confidence.

Highlights of this role:

  • Mentorship under the #1 Agent in the District — learn how top performers actually build profitable agencies.
  • Fast-Track Career Path — master sales, service, business operations, partnerships, and leadership—all leading to agency ownership.
  • Extremely Competitive Pay — this is one of the highest-earning tracks in the organization for those who perform.
  • Entrepreneurial Training — learn how to build a book of business, create systems, grow a team, and run your own operation.
  • Hands-on, Real-World Experience — gain practical skills you can use to launch and scale your own agency.
  • Support + Autonomy — you get coaching, tools, training, and district support while developing the independence needed to own your business.
  • No Insurance Background Required — professionalism, sales, drive, and maturity matter more than experience.

As a Protégé, you will:

  • Build and manage a growing book of business while learning the full operations of a successful agency.
  • Meet and exceed performance targets that directly accelerate your path to agency ownership and income growth.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with clients, guiding them with personalized, high-quality insurance solutions.
  • Engage in continuous learning, gaining expert-level knowledge on products, industry trends, and business best practices.
  • Manage key administrative and operational tasks, including client communication, policy updates, documentation, and claims coordination.
  • Collaborate with your mentor agent and Farmers leadership to utilize tools, support, and resources that elevate your success.
  • Create and execute marketing strategies that expand your client base and strengthen your local presence.
  • Operate with the mindset of a business owner, taking responsibility for outcomes, growth, and daily performance.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  1. A strong entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build a long-term career in business ownership.
  2. Exceptional professionalism and communication skills — this role interacts directly with clients and community partners.
  3. Sales-driven, goal-oriented energy with a passion for helping people and building relationships.
  4. Self-motivation and discipline — you’ll manage your own schedule, workload, and development.
  5. Ability to study for and obtain P&C and L&H licenses (full training and support provided).
  6. Commitment to completing all training, coaching, and performance requirements of the program.
  7. Comfort with financial responsibility and strong personal money-management habits.
  8. Pass a background check per program and state requirements.
  9. Previous sales or customer-focused experience is preferred, but not required.

You'll Master:

  • Building lasting client relationships
  • Writing quality business and meeting sales targets
  • Partnering with local businesses to grow your market
  • Operating like a true entrepreneur, preparing to run your own agency
