This role combines hands-on carpentry with field leadership and includes intentional overlap with light superintendent duties on certain jobs. The right candidate can run day-to-day work, guide crews, coordinate short-term jobsite needs, and help keep projects moving with professionalism and consistency. This is a key field role for someone who knows how to build and knows how to lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations on assigned projects, ensuring steady progress, quality control, and coordination of trades
  • Assign tasks, guide crew members, and track daily progress
  • Mentor journeymen and apprentices while supporting a positive team culture
  • Coordinate short-term work with subcontractors within a 1-3 week planning window
  • Procure rough materials and ensure timely delivery to the site
  • Schedule, prepare for, and run inspections for assigned scopes
  • Complete daily logs and photo documentation using company software
  • Communicate field conditions, progress, and material needs to the PM or superintendent
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite environment

Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of carpentry experience in residential construction
  • Proficient spoken and written level of English
  • High-end residential remodel or custom home experience strongly preferred
  • Strong mastery of rough carpentry, layout, envelope work, and finish carpentry
  • Ability to lead field execution across multiple small to mid-size projects
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing short-term project flow
  • Ability to confidently schedule and run inspections
  • Strong plan-reading and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentorship ability
  • Must be able to provide standard personal carpentry hand tools used in daily work
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employee
  • Pay: $40 to $55 per hour, based on experience for Carpenters
  • This role is structured to grow into increased field leadership responsibility, with opportunities for compensation growth based on demonstrated performance
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Health insurance contribution
  • Car allowance
  • Phone allowance
  • $500 annual reimbursement for tools, continuing education, or professional development
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, typical construction-site hours; 07:00 - 03:30
  • Travel: Local travel between Bay Area job sites required

*Probation Period: 90-day probation period. During this period, employees will receive hourly pay along with sick leave, cell phone, and auto allowance. Full benefits will begin after 90 days, assuming satisfactory performance.
