Commercial Electrical Apprentice

Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $18-$20/hour (depending on experience)

ย BCI Electrical is a family-managed private company that has built our business with our people.ย  Our Team delivers excellent workmanship at a good value always striving to do what is best for the customer- this in turn has resulted in growth.ย  While we have a long-standing foundation of customer relationships dating back some 30+ years, our company has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years and continues to do so.ย  We presently have a heavy backlog of construction projects, service projects, and maintenance/service accounts.ย  We perform work throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and are beginning to move into surrounding parts of Northeast Kansas.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Commercial Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team serving the Kansas City metro area. This position assists licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in commercial and industrial facilities.

The ideal candidate has prior construction experience, a strong work ethic, and a desire to build a long-term career in the electrical trade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman and master electricians with installing conduit, wire, cable trays, lighting, panels, and devices.
  • Pull wire and cable through conduit systems.
  • Bend and install EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit.
  • Install electrical devices, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely.
  • Transport materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of commercial construction experience preferred.
  • Electrical experience or enrollment in an apprenticeship program is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Familiarity with construction safety practices.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
