Position Description
Underground Utility Pipe Layer
Previous construction or related laborer experience is preferred. Perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects, to include site excavation and utility installation, and demolition sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set supports for excavations, install various types of pipe for utilities, clean up rubble and debris. May assist other craft workers.

Position Requirements
Must have experience with underground utilities consisting of sewer, water, and storm drain projects. The pipe layer is responsible for installing underground pipes, which vary in size (6"-108") and type (RCP, PVC, Ductile Iron, Steel, etc.) for commercial projects. Installation of the pipe includes positioning, joining, and aligning the pipes at proper depths, angles, and grades. The pipe layer is also responsible for rigging and setting concrete precast structures such as, manhole inlet structures, etc. The pipe layer is essential in communicating with other team members regarding the excavating activities associated with installing the pipe to ensure work is performed safety and efficiently.
Must be able to handle the very physical environment of climbing in/out of trenches, carry heavy items, and working in inclement weather.
