Position Summary

The University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Joliet, Illinois, invites applications for an Instructor of the PMHNP Program.

The Leach College of Nursing offers CCNE-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs. We serve diverse students through a variety of learning modalities.
Founded in 1920, The University of St. Francis is an award-winning, high-quality, Catholic, Franciscan university. The university is in a residential neighborhood 35 miles southwest of Chicago with a satellite location in downtown Joliet, IL. The surrounding Chicagoland area offers robust park and recreation resources, major league sports, cultural arts, museums, festivals, shopping, restaurants, and two major airports. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Uphold and fulfill the mission and philosophy of the Leach College of Nursing.
  • Participate in and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
  • Responsibilities include teaching 15 credit hours per semester of the BSN and MSN courses; academic advising; clinical supervision of students; ongoing scholarly activity; and participation in committee work, public service, and professional organizations.
  • Provide service to the University, Leach College of Nursing, and the community: Serve on appropriate University/College and Governance Committees; Participate in University/College activities including faculty, students, and alumni; Cooperate in the recruitment and retention of students; Engage in scholarly endeavors and research for professional and scholarly growth.
  • Participate in professional programs and attend workshops and/or classes for personal enrichment; Participate in College projects in the area of expertise.
Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Current RN license or eligibility for licensing in Illinois
  • Two years of experience in clinical nursing practice
  • Teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs
  • Evidence of self-development through participation in continuing education offerings, advanced study, scholarly pursuit, and/or professional and clinical activities
  • Willingness to uphold and fulfill the mission, vision, values, and traditions of the University of St. Francis
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
Preferred Requirements
  • Established record of effective teaching, research, service, and professional experience
  • Expertise in the use of technology and web-based nursing education

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
This is a full-time, nine-month contract position, August - May each year. We offer a competitive compensation and benefit package. Variable hours, with online courses. May have day/evening/night/weekend/summer courses.
Physical Requirements of Position
Work is performed in classroom and office settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
