Description

Job Summary:

The Traveling Commercial Lighting Technician is responsible for performing electrical and lighting installations, retrofits, maintenance, and service work at commercial client locations across the country. This role requires frequent travel, overnight stays, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism. Technicians work independently or as part of a crew to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining company standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, retrofit, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial lighting systems, including LED upgrades and controls.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and layout drawings.
  • Perform electrical wiring and conduit installations in compliance with NEC and local codes.
  • Conduct site assessments and accurately document findings, work completed, and materials used.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, scissor lifts, and other industry equipment safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate with project managers and supervisors regarding site schedules and job requirements.
  • Travel extensively (6-8 weeks at a time, hotels are provided and per diem)
  • Maintain accurate time records, complete job reports, and follow company IVR or work order procedures.
  • Perform work in a safe and professional manner, following all company safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
  • Represent the company positively with clients and vendors, maintaining a clean and professional appearance.
  • Assist with warehouse inventory management, vehicle maintenance, and other related tasks when not on the road.




 

Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of commercial lighting or electrical experience.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Ability to travel nationwide on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Familiarity with LED lighting products, retrofit procedures, and lighting control systems.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or apprenticeship experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check with no felony convictions or violent crimes.
