Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time HVAC 1st Period Apprentice. You'll have the opportunity to work on all types of commercial and industrial equipment and cutting-edge technologies. Location: Boston, MA
Your Responsibilities:
  • Perform and assist in service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
  • Perform and assist in the rebuilding of an HVAC unit. Receive detailed direction while sharing the hands-on task responsibilities with Journeyman and Foreman
  • Drive a company vehicle to and from jobsite. Transport and maintain inventory of hand tools and necessary materials for job completion
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
  • Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, and word processing programs
  • Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication
  • Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call
  • Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modules
  • Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
  • Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Your Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's Degree or technical school HVAC certificate (preferred)
  • 0-2+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be a member of Local Union 537
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
  • Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
  • Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians
  • EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
  • Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The minimum expected hourly rate for this position is $28.23 in MA. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered. Benefits are provided through a local labor union and aligned to the CBA.
