In this entry-level position, the Propane Service Apprentice will learn all of the functions, tasks, and skills necessary to progress to an Propane Service Apprentice from experienced technicians. In addition, the Propane Service Apprentice will learn all aspects and processes involved with the efficient, safe, and successful delivery of offered services to new and current residential and commercial customers.


Key responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • The employee will attend introductory training sessions at this level, including Hazmat OSHA and Basic CETP Principals
  • Work alongside technicians in the field, assisting with equipment service, piping installations, and heating and cooling equipment installs.
  • Learn how to perform safety checks, leak and pressure tests, and appliance servicing.
  • Installation, maintenance, and service of oil/natural gas/propane/electric appliances
  • Operating a crane and dolly to maneuver tanks
  • Inspecting and repairing equipment at customer sites
  • Performing duties safely and efficiently, conforming to federal, state, and local guidelines and codes
  • Additional responsibilities include warehouse/inventory support as needed
  • The ability to lift or move objects of heavyweight.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditions


Required Skills for the Propane Service Apprentice:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Experience with hand tools, electrical, plumbing, general maintenance, or carpentry


Preferred Skills for the Propane Service Apprentice:

  • A desire and motivation to learn and grow to expand fieldwork skills
  • A clean, safe, and responsible driving history
  • A Commercial Drivers' License is preferred
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be enthusiastic, committed, proactive, resourceful, and a team player
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, ensuring each customer interaction is positive
