Job description

Touch ID is how millions of people unlock their devices, authorize payments, and protect their most sensitive data. We're looking for an electrical engineer who wants to own designs-not just execute them. You'll shape sensor module architectures, make electrical design decisions, and see your work ship in Apple products.
Description
The Sensing Systems team integrates MEMS, magnetic, and capacitive sensors across Apple's product lines. On the Touch ID team, you'll design sensor modules that are central to security and user experience.
This role is for an engineer ready to move beyond task execution to design ownership. You'll propose circuit solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and defend your technical decisions to cross-functional partners. You'll have the opportunity to influence system-level architecture-not just implement specifications handed to you. When problems arise, you'll exercise judgment to identify root causes and drive design improvements.
We're looking for someone with strong analog fundamentals and the initiative to shape technical direction. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who will challenge your thinking and support your growth, while giving you real ownership of designs that matter.","responsibilities":"Own electrical design for sensor module subsystems-from initial concept through schematic capture and bring-up, including electromechanical analysis and physics-based modeling
Propose and evaluate design alternatives, presenting technical rationale to the team
Make tradeoff decisions balancing performance, power, area, and manufacturability
Collaborate with silicon, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to solve integration challenges
Identify design risks and propose mitigation approaches
Create and own engineering documentation: specifications, design analyses, and technical recommendations
Present technical findings and design proposals to cross-functional partners and leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with sensing systems (capacitive, optical, MEMS, or similar)
Familiarity with PCB or flex circuit design
Exposure to full product development lifecycle, from concept to production
Ability to independently evaluate design tradeoffs and propose solutions
Experience presenting technical recommendations to cross-functional audiences
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with signal integrity or power integrity concepts
Minimum Qualifications
Solid analog circuit design fundamentals with hands-on design experience
Experience with circuit simulation (SPICE) and lab bring-up/debug
Proficiency with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, or similar)
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Pay & Benefits
