Mechanical Design Engineer | Cypress, TX
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team in Cypress, TX as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will be part of a group of engineers dedicated to high-quality work, value-add solutions, skill development, and career growth. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
  • Drive mechanical design engineering initiatives for Systems Solutions, supporting strategic growth and customer-focused project outcomes
  • Lead and coordinate medium-scale mechanical engineering designs within a rapidly expanding business segment
  • Develop innovative mechanical designs and provide expert technical guidance on active engineering projects
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, ensuring on-time delivery and high-value engineering solutions
  • Improve clarity, manufacturability, and execution across all mechanical design recommendations
  • Collaborate with the Senior ETO (Engineering-to-Order) Design Manager and engineering partners across the organization
  • Oversee creation and release of engineering drawings, analyses, test plans, and technical documentation
  • Select and specify mechanical components required for project construction
  • Create new parts and Bills of Material (BOMs) and upload them into the ERP system
  • Track, support, and report mechanical design changes throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Provide documentation support to application engineering, sales, and estimating teams
  • Partner with manufacturing and production teams to resolve build challenges and improve assembly processes
  • Prepare quote packages and recommend design improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce cost
  • Apply mechanical engineering standards across design reviews, documentation, and project deliverables
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
  • Contribute to projects that impact communities in Houston, Katy, Tomball, Spring, The Woodlands, Jersey Village, Hockley, Waller, and Magnolia and the greater Houston, TX area
  • Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 2-5 years experience preferred
  • Experience with mechanical systems including sheet metal enclosures, structural assemblies, and thermal management solutions
  • Background in small- to medium-scale system design such as electrical enclosures, panel layout, seismic considerations, and heat management
  • Proficiency with major ERP and CAD platforms including SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering standards including ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), UL (Underwriters Laboratories), and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
  • Skilled in generating and reviewing engineering documentation such as Bills of Material, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-ups, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth engineering environment
  • Understanding of structural and thermal analysis using FEA and CFD tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar platforms
  • Capable of working independently and as a team member

ESTIMATED PAY RANGE
Engineer I: $34.62-$40.38/hour
Engineer II: $38.46-$44.23/hour
Engineer III: $43.27-$49.04/hour
Senior Engineer: $46.63-$53.85/hour
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
