Microwave Techniques is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our technical sales team in Gorham. This role supports customers and internal teams by translating RF and microwave component requirements into practical technical solutions, accurate proposals, and successful order execution.
Microwave Techniques Components Division, located in Gorham, Maine, is a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced RF and microwave solutions. For more than 40 years, we have delivered innovative technologies that support customers across a broad range of industrial, scientific, medical, defense, semiconductor, aerospace, food processing, plasma, materials processing, communications, and research applications.
Our Gorham operations design and manufacture a wide portfolio of products, including:
  • RF and microwave circulators, isolators, and ferrite components
  • Waveguide and coaxial passive components
  • Custom RF and microwave engineering solutions

Microwave Techniques LLC, is a subsidiary of The Elmet Group (ELMT), a publicly traded company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop technical proposals, quotes, and supporting costing inputs based on customer requirements and internal feasibility reviews
  • Lead the technical scoping of RF/microwave components based on customer specifications, working with the Sales Engineer and Engineering as necessary
  • Pricing and Proposal/Quote Development
  • Partner with Sales Engineers during RFQs and RFPs to craft tailored solutions
  • Provide technical justification for pricing, delivery timelines, and feasibility
  • Travel occasionally to support the Sales Engineers at customers and attend trade shows
  • Coordinate across departments to ensure the product is engineered, manufactured, tested, and shipped in accordance with the order specifications and contractual requirements
  • Monitor timelines, resolve issues, and maintain customer communication throughout the lifecycle of the order
  • Develop datasheets and application notes for one-off designs

Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical manufacturing
  • Cost modeling and quoting platforms (Excel, ERP-integrated tools)
  • Proficiency in the full Microsoft office Suite,
  • Strong technical skills and ability to understand complex technical concepts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

The shift in Gorham, Maine is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm.
