A day in the life…
 
Wondering what a day in the life of Application Analyst II at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
 
  • Design and implement advanced configurations and workflows for healthcare applications.
  • Lead testing and validation for upgrades, patches, and new implementations.
  • Coordinate change management and release planning activities.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine tasks and reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned applications, providing advanced guidance on configurations, workflows, and optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for integration and optimization projects.
  • Provide support for go‑lives, upgrades, and other key operational events as required, including after‑hours participation to ensure smooth and reliable system transitions.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Analyst I team members.
  • Participate in strategic planning for application enhancements and interoperability.
  • Generate advanced reports and analytics to support operational and clinical decision-making.
  • Provide scheduled on-call coverage for application-related incidents.
  • Successful delivery of 3+ major application optimization projects annually.
  • Reduction of application-related incidents by ≥25%.
  • Documented improvements in automation and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and demonstrate a positive impact in team development and collaboration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python), and reporting tools.
  • Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner) and integration points (APIs, HL7).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and virtualization technologies.

Qualifications
