Job description

Position Summary:
Provide technical leadership, direction, and technical support for the development, configuration, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Epic System software related to Epic Resolute Professional Billing. This position includes working with Project Management groups, key stakeholders, vendors, contactors, and end users regularly.
This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with application owners to identify critical functional requirements for new or revised applications Obtain and maintain required certification(s)
  • Recommend technical design and procedures for new or revised applications.
  • Configure and customize applications.
  • May write program code or scripts
  • Review the application build for efficiency, completeness and correctness.
  • Perform unit and integrated testing,
  • Develop and maintain testing scripts for execution during special updates and system upgrade cycles.
  • Review and analyze system problems to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals.
  • Carry a pager and provide after-hours support as required and requested.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans associated with system development, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to ensure recovery capability, as well as satisfactory and stable performance of the platform(s) and all applications and processes.
  • Document system procedure and guidelines for users, as well as programs and program modifications.
  • May train users one-on-one or in small group sessions.
  • Develop and maintain downtime workflows and procedures
  • Provides direction, assignments, feedback, coaching, and counseling to junior staff to assure outcomes are achieved.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or MIS or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.
  • Certification must be obtained within 30 days after the corresponding EPIC class ends. In cases where an employee cannot meet this timeframe, they should work with their supervisor to establish an approved plan for completion.

Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with variety of specific tools and toolkits for development and support of applications
  • Knowledge of and extensive experience with activities, tools and techniques for converting business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
  • Knowledge of and extensive experience defining, implementing changes to, and supporting a production application.
  • Knowledge of and extensive experience with activities, tasks, practices and deliverables associated with writing and modifying programs that comprise an application system.
  • Knowledge and ability to use and administer the organization's technology practices, standards and procedures.
  • Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance business processes, typically 5-7 years for Senior Developers in leadership roles including experience with programming tools and a comprehensive understanding of database technologies (e.g., Cache, SOL Server)
  • Experience working with end-users to define system requirements and understand
    business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Wearing a pager and providing some 24x7 on-call support.
  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with health care revenue cycle practices.
  • Experience with hospital/physician billing systems or physician office management systems.
  • Epic Resolute Professional Billing or related certification is highly desirable.
