Job description

What You Can Expect In This Role
Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve highly complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications to write programs. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains those programs. Competent to work on and responsible for nearly all phases of applications systems analysis and programming projects. Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced analysts/programmers.
What You'll Do In This Role
  • AI-Directed Engineering: Use AI agents as the primary mechanism for generating code, documentation, tests, troubleshooting analysis, and implementation support. The developer is expected to deeply understand the codebase, architecture, business requirements, and technology stack, then apply engineering judgment, design aptitude, and review discipline to guide AI-generated work toward secure, correct, maintainable solutions.
  • Design & Build Platform Capabilities: Develop, enhance, and maintain microservices, APIs, and tooling that support data ingestion and configuration.
  • Hands-On Development: Guide AI-assisted development of clean, testable Node.js code; implement event-driven integrations using Kafka; and ensure design decisions and algorithm intent are clearly documented.
  • Data Persistence & Performance: Work with MongoDB and SQL Server to model data, optimize queries, and implement monitoring and tuning for high-throughput workloads.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Build and maintain continuous integration and delivery pipelines; automate testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Collaboration & Support: Partner closely with data architects, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure platforms are secure, resilient, and scalable.
  • Quality & Best Practices: Contribute to defining and enforcing coding standards, architectural guidelines, and SDLC processes to ensure consistency and maintainability, including standards for reviewing and validating AI-generated code and documentation.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Use AI agents to accelerate investigation of production issues, root-cause analysis, performance optimization, and bug fixes while applying engineering expertise to validate findings and determine the correct resolution.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Use AI-assisted documentation workflows to capture solutions, explain technical decisions, and mentor more junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Alignment with Business Goals: Work with product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions that meet both functional and non-functional needs.

  • Proficient in Node.js for building microservices and RESTful APIs.

  • Strong database skills with MongoDB and SQL Server, including schema design and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to effectively use AI agents and AI-assisted development tools to generate, refine, test, document, and troubleshoot software solutions

What We're Looking For
  • College Degree in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems Preferred
  • Minimum 8 years' IT development experience or equivalent Preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate with business partners and other IT staff
  • Problem solving skills sufficient to perform research and recommend a proposed solution to problems
  • Able to work on multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Able to effectively direct and coordinate the work of other team members on a project without having HR management responsibility for them
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages as required for the system

Salary Range Information
USD $84,721.00 - USD $176,501.00 /Yr. Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.
