Description
The Cloud Infrastructure team, as part of the Apple Services Engineering organization, is seeking an exceptional Engineering Program Manager (EPM) who is passionate about Apple’s products and values, and who loves working with infrastructure technologies at scale. This is a highly technical, hands-on position where you will work with Data Services development and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams. Teams across Apple rely on us for infrastructure that help them build services that scale globally, are highly available, and "just work". We listen to different perspectives, help surface innovative ideas, and drive decisions that move us forward. You'll need a strong background in program and project management complemented by your technical abilities. You are skilled at driving software product development across a globally distributed organization and delivering new products and features that meaningfully surprise and delight our internal customers.","responsibilities":"Drive program roadmap and strategy: partner with engineering to define and execute a program or domain roadmap
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource allocation
Lead cross-functional discussions with stakeholders to prioritize and establish a strategic program roadmap
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating as needed
Track project progress, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
Produce succinct and timely status reports to stakeholders
Establish and maintain feedback loops: develop and sustain a robust feedback loop with stakeholders, partners, and users to drive iterative improvements, ensuring that products continuously evolve to meet user needs and program objectives
Define success metrics: Assist in the development and monitoring of key product metrics that align with broader product goals, enabling clear measurement of data services success and impact
Foster cross-functional relationships: build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization, facilitating seamless communication between teams and fostering a unified approach to program goals
Champion best practices in project management and software development methodologies Drive process improvements and standardization across data services domain
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with globally distributed teams
Experience building feature and technical roadmaps
Ability to identify gaps in solutions, debate approaches, and weigh in on tradeoffs
Familiarity with open-source software development processes
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of program management, product management, systems engineering or equivalent experience
Excellent project management skills to drive schedules, dependencies, critical path and risks
Solid technical understanding of large scale distributed software systems, event streaming, data pipelines, distributed databases, cloud architecture
Strong relationship management and facilitation skills both within diverse engineering teams and cross functional organizations
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to convey information in a clear, concise and credible manner
Experience with release planning and SDLC methodologies
Familiarity with system reliability engineering (SRE) process and deliverables
Ability to partner with product and engineering teams to translate user needs into actionable requirements
Strong facilitation skills (requirements sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings)
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical field or at least 5+ years of comparable experience
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $250,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
