Description
We're looking for a strategic and operationally excellent leader to serve as a player-coach on our Apple News Account Management team. In this dual-capacity role, you will manage and develop a small team of Account Managers while personally owning a portfolio of high-tier strategic accounts - spanning top-spending performance advertisers and global brand campaigns. This role spans full-funnel campaign management, from partnering with Client Partners on initial pitch through post-sale analysis, while also setting the standard for how the team delivers best-in-class service to clients and agency partners. The ideal candidate brings deep managed service and direct IO digital advertising account management experience, strong agency and client relationships, and the leadership presence to coach an Account Manager through a complex renewal conversation as confidently as they navigate one themselves.","responsibilities":"Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Account Managers, setting clear performance expectations and building a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous growth
Personally own and manage a portfolio of high-tier strategic accounts - serving as the senior point of contact for top-spending and global brand advertisers across the full campaign lifecycle, from pre-sale support through post-campaign analysis
Partner with Client Partners to understand advertiser goals and provide strategic direction on RFP responses, media planning, and inventory optimization, applying AM best practices to drive outcomes
Build media plans using Apple's internal tools (including WorkBench), applying appropriate rate card and pricing frameworks, and ensuring seamless translation from pitch to execution
Oversee deal desk processes across your team's book of business - ensuring proper sign-offs, IO routing, and compliance with Apple's advertising standards and guidelines
Serve as an escalation point for your team on complex client issues, deal structuring challenges, and cross-functional coordination, resolving matters with professionalism and speed
Collaborate with CampaignOps, EditOps, Finance, Legal, and Product to ensure accurate campaign setup, trafficking, and delivery across Apple News environments
Monitor in-flight campaign pacing and performance across your team's accounts; proactively surface optimization and upsell opportunities to both your team and client partners
Analyze agency and advertiser spending trends - including upfront commitments and contractual obligations - to inform renewal strategy and account planning
Drive post-campaign wrap-up reporting for strategic accounts, synthesizing performance insights into clear, action-oriented narratives for clients and internal stakeholders
Represent Account Management in cross-functional planning forums and contribute to process improvements that raise the bar for the broader team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Apple News, digital publishing, or editorial-driven advertising environments
Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to use campaign data to drive optimizations, upsell recommendations, and renewal strategy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive client situations and influence across internal and external stakeholders
Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a track record of identifying and resolving unstructured problems before they escalate
Experience working across deal structuring, pricing frameworks, and advertiser commitment tracking (upfronts, contractual obligations, etc.)
Track record of developing talent and elevating team performance in fast-paced, matrixed organizations
Genuine passion for Apple's brand, editorial values, and commitment to upholding the standards that define the Apple News experience
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience in digital advertising account management, within a premium content, publisher, or digital media environment
2+ years of people management experience, leading and developing account managers or campaign management teams - or a seasoned senior AM with demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and readiness to step into management
Proven experience personally managing high-tier or strategic accounts end-to-end, including complex multi-stakeholder campaigns across global brand and performance advertisers
Deep familiarity with media planning, ad operations, and campaign management workflows - including proficiency with systems such as OperativeOne, Freewheel, Salesforce, or equivalent
Strong track record of building trusted senior-level relationships with media agencies and brand marketers
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage both a team's book of business and a personal account portfolio simultaneously
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,900 and $298,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
