Appian Lead Product Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL - Hybrid

Mode: Fulltime or Contract

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Appian Lead Product Engineer to own and manage the Appian platform end-to-end. This role will guide technical architecture, oversee environment management, coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors, and lead upgrade and enhancement planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner of the Appian platform - including environment strategy, configuration, performance, and stability.
  • Plan and execute Appian upgrades, patches, capacity scaling, and environment refreshes.
  • Define and enforce architecture standards, best practices, design patterns, and governance for Appian implementations.
  • Collaborate with business, delivery teams, infrastructure, information security, and external vendors to ensure reliable and compliant platform operations.
  • Review solution designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and performance requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for high-priority incidents.
  • Support DevOps/CI-CD pipelines for Appian deployments and promote modern automation practices.
  • Maintain platform documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on Appian experience, including architecture and environment management.
  • Strong understanding of Appian components: Records, Data Fabric/CDTs, SAIL, process models, integrations, plug-ins, RPA.
  • Proven experience with upgrades, performance tuning, and environment configuration (Appian Cloud and self-managed).
  • Solid knowledge of integration patterns (REST/SOAP, queues, JDBC).
  • Experience working with security teams on SSO, SAML/OIDC, RBAC, and platform hardening.
  • Experience with identity and access management and platform security.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Appian Lead Developer certification.
  • Experience working with Appian Support and vendor partners.
  • Background in financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring tools (Splunk/ELK/AppDynamics, etc.).
