What are appearance attorneys?

Appearance attorneys are licensed lawyers who are hired to represent other attorneys or law firms at court hearings, depositions, or other legal proceedings, typically on a temporary or short-term basis. They step in when the primary attorney cannot attend a scheduled appearance, ensuring the client's interests are still represented. Their duties may include making routine court appearances, filing documents, or handling procedural matters, but they usually do not take on substantive roles in the case. This service is especially useful for busy law firms or solo practitioners who have scheduling conflicts or multiple cases in different locations.
