Custom Apparel Account Manager

Job description

Chicago Signs and Screen Printing | Chicago, IL | Hybrid
About Us
Chicago Signs and Screen Printing is one of Chicago's top-rated printing and branding companies (just check our Google reviews). We specialize in screen printing, embroidery, and custom signage, and we're an authorized decorator for brands like The North Face, Ogio, Gildan, Nike, Travis Mathew, and Carhartt. Our clients range from schools and nonprofits to corporations and event organizers — anyone who needs custom apparel, promotional products, or signage done right.
We're growing, and we're looking for an Account Manager to help us bring on new business and take great care of the clients we already have.
The Role
This is a junior-to-mid-level sales position, ideal for someone with 1-2 years of sales experience (more is great too). You'll manage the full sales cycle — from first conversation to final delivery — helping clients figure out exactly what they need, whether that's 500 embroidered polos for a corporate event, spirit wear for a school district, or signage for a nonprofit gala.
The role is a hybrid mix:
  • In-shop — working with our production and design teams to scope projects and make sure orders are done right
  • Remote — following up on leads, managing accounts, handling quotes and communication
  • Out in the field — networking, meeting prospective clients, and building relationships with schools, businesses, nonprofits, and event planners across the Chicago area
We provide a steady stream of inbound leads from our website and online marketing — this isn't a 100% cold-calling role, though outside networking and relationship-building are a big part of long-term success here.
What We're Looking For
We're most excited about candidates who bring one of the following:
  1. Sales experience in the custom apparel/decorated goods industry (screen printing, embroidery, promotional products, or similar) — this is our ideal background.
  2. B2B sales experience with school districts, corporations, nonprofits, or event organizers — you know how these buyers think and what they need.
  3. A background in graphic design, screen printing, or embroidery production who is looking to transition into sales — you may not have a sales title yet, but you understand the product inside and out and want to grow into a client-facing role.
No matter your background, we're looking for someone who is personable, organized, motivated by growth, and genuinely likes helping people solve problems.
We'll provide training in both sales process and our printing/production processes — but candidates who already bring some combination of sales chops and industry knowledge will have a real head start.
Compensation
  • Base salary + uncapped commission
  • Year 1 at-goal earnings: $55,000–$65,000
  • Year 2-3 potential: $100,000+ as you build your book of business
  • Warm inbound leads provided in addition to your own prospecting and networking
Responsibilities
  • Manage inbound leads and convert them into long-term client relationships
  • Meet with clients (in person, virtually, and in-shop) to scope out apparel, embroidery, and signage projects
  • Prepare quotes, coordinate with production/design teams, and manage orders through completion
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, corporations, nonprofits, and event organizers
  • Represent Chicago Signs and Screen Printing at networking events and in the community
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, accounts, and pipeline activity
Qualifications
  • 1-2+ years of sales experience preferred (industry-specific experience a strong plus)
  • OR relevant customer service/production experience in graphic design, screen printing, or embroidery with a strong interest in moving into sales
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule across in-shop, remote, and field settings
  • Reliable transportation for local client visits and networking events
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and goal-driven
Why Join Us
  • Represent nationally recognized brands
  • Work for one of Chicago's highest-rated printing companies
  • Real earning potential with a clear path to six figures
  • Supportive team and hands-on training
  • Variety — no two days look the same between the shop, the road, and your desk
