To thrive as an API Integration Manager, you need a strong background in software development, API design, and system architecture, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi), RESTful and SOAP APIs, and relevant certifications (like MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect) is often required. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder communication skills help you stand out in this position. These skills ensure seamless system interoperability, efficient project delivery, and alignment between technical and business objectives.

What does an API Integration Manager do?

An API Integration Manager is responsible for overseeing the integration of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) within an organization’s systems. They coordinate between development teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders to ensure APIs are implemented efficiently and securely. This position often requires strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Job description

About Us:
Piermont Bank is a boutique specialty commercial bank focused on serving modern businesses with a digital first approach. As the first cloud native bank launched in the United States, Piermont was built on modern infrastructure that allows us to operate with greater flexibility, efficiency, and scalability than traditional banks.
We combine disciplined commercial banking with innovative technology to deliver value added solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and our fintech partners. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful risk management, strong client relationships, and building a bank designed for the future of financial services.
The Role:
This Embedded Banking Integration Manager is central to scaling the Bank's embedded banking platform safely and effectively. Success in this position enables fintech partners to launch efficiently while maintaining the strong risk management, compliance, and operational standards expected of a regulated financial institution.
Responsibilities:
  • Own technical integration architecture for fintech partners, from initial solution design through production launch.
  • Act as the technical counterpart to partner engineering teams, driving API integration discussions, and system workflows.
  • Lead deep-dive solutioning sessions with partners, helping them architect how they will integrate into banking infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across systems (APIs, payments rails, ledgering, core banking interactions).
  • Design and validate end-to-end payment testing flows (ACH, wires, card networks, RTP, FedNow)
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to build scalable, reusable integration procedures
  • Support pre-sales and early-stage engagements by assessing technical feasibility and proposing solutions aligned with partner use cases.
  • Ensure integrations are built with scalability, resiliency, and operational sustainability in mind.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Operations to ensure solutions meet regulatory and operational requirements, while maintaining technical integrity.
  • Drive technical readiness for go-live, including testing strategy, certification, and production validation.
  • Monitor early integrations post-launch and quickly resolve technical or architectural issues.
  • Contribute to the evolution of new banking and payments products, ensuring they are built with strong developer and integration considerations.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in a technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Pre-Sales Engineer, Integration Engineer, or Software Engineer within fintech, payments, or banking.
  • Strong hands-on experience working with:
    • RESTful APIs (design, integration, troubleshooting)
    • Authentication protocols (OAuth, API keys, etc.)
    • Webhooks and event-driven systems
  • Experience working with or designing integrations across banking and payments infrastructure, including:
    • ACH, wires, card processing, RTP, FedNow
    • Core banking platforms and ledgering systems
    • Payment flows, settlement, and reconciliation
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams in a technical, not purely program management capacity.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and architecture.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales or client-facing technical engagements is highly preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to debug across multiple systems and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory considerations (BSA/AML, third-party risk) with the ability to design compliant technical solutions.

The hiring range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. A bonus and/or incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, dental, vision, 401k, and other benefits.
